Final Annual DEMUSIS Project Management Board meeting to be held on 30 November – 2 December in Belgrade

As the DEMUSIS project is approaching its end in January 2023, the final annual Project Management Board meeting, along with the Quality Assurance Group meeting will be held at the University of Arts in Belgrade from 30 November to 2 December 2022. Along with the overview of projects activities and outcomes, the main focus of the meeting will lie on preparations for the final project report, along with final discussions on the sustainability of project results and life of the project after its end.

Plans for Music/ian is Present event in Novi Sad – EU Capital of Culture 2022 presented at the exceptional Project Management Board meeting

The Project Management Board met online on 1st of June to discuss and plan the key project dissemination event (WP 7.7) entitled Music/ian is Present, to be held on 12-17 September 2022. The event will address the third project objective – promotion of more engaged and culturally responsible musicians committed to the civil society, from diverse perspectives. It will include a bootcamp for P1-P3 students with public presentations of student projects (WP 7.6) from 12-16 September, a scientific conference with roundtable presentations by invited speakers, and Public debate as a key dissemination event on 17 September.

The student bootcamp will welcome 20-25 students of new MA and modernized BA and MA study programs from the Faculty of Music University of Arts in Belgrade (P1), Academy of Arts University in Novi Sad (P2) and the Faculty of Philology and Arts University of Kragujevac (P3). They will be joined by P1-P3 teachers in the role of coaches, while the whole event will be expertly led by teachers from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (P4). The bootcamp will rely on the experience from the first DEMUSIS project bootcamp Music – Here and Now, held last year in a hybrid format. Student projects, developed and realized within the bootcamp, will be publicly presented on the last day of the bootcamp, September 16th, while the best 3 projects will further be presented and promoted on the following day within the Public debate.

In order to enhance the scientific dissemination of project outcomes, academic researchers from the partner institutions from P1-P9 will gather on a conference on September 17th 2022 at the University of Novi Sad to share results of their research and discuss the role, position and visibility of academic musicians in society. After the conference, the proceedings will be published in journal of the highest national level, in a separate thematic section, thus reinforcing further dissemination and exploitation of the research and project results in national and international scientific community.

The issues regarding the position of musicians and their engagement in the society will be questioned and explored more fully in a in the main event of the week – the Public debate Music/ian is Present, which will be held on 17 September 2022 in Cultural station Egység in Novi Sad, in synergy with Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022. In addition to the participants from all partner institutions, national and EU HMEIs and stakeholders, the list of contributors will include representatives of governmental, regional and EU institutions, as well as distinguished public figures in the sphere of music and culture.

In order to reach wider inter/national audience, both the conference and the Public debate will be streamed online, with active engagement of online audience in the Q&A and discussion sessions.

DEMUSIS Project Management Board Annual Meeting 2021 to be held on 13-14 December in Kragujevac

DEMUSIS Project Management Board Annual Meeting will be held at the University of Kragujevac (P3) on 13-14 December 2021 in a hybrid form.

Annual Project Quality Assurance Group meeting held online on 2 December 2021

The DEMUSIS project Quality Assurance Group met on December 2nd 2021 with the project external evaluator for an annual meeting, held online.

In a pleasant and friendly atmosphere, the Annual Report of the Quality Assurance Group for 2021 was presented, along with quality monitoring reports on project deliverables 2.5, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.5, 5.1, 5.2, 7.4, 7.6, 7.7.

Upon discussion, further recommendations for adjustments in quality assurance documentations were made (in Project Quality Assurance Plan, with Appendixes I and IV), in line with the project eligibility period extension, to be offered to the Project Management Board for adoption on the Annual PMB meeting in Kragujevac on 13-14 December.

DEMUSIS project outputs presented at the 2021 China – CEEC Forum of Music Academy Deans and Rectors

The Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade (P1) took part in the Third Forum of Music Academies from China and Central and Eastern Europe held online on November 4th 2021, presenting the international collaboration of the Faculty of Music in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.

The backbone of the Faculty of Music activities in the field of international collaboration during this time were realized in the framework of the DEMUSIS project. In her presentation, Dragana Jovanović, the Head of the Center for International Cooperation, particularly addressed DEMUSIS actions and outputs produced in teaching (WP4.3) and teacher training (WP3.1), as well as in music performance (WP4.3).

Introducing the diverse and intensive international activity of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in past year, DEMUSIS online teacher training by EU academic partner institutions in December 2020 and April 2021 was particularly recognized, along with involvement in teaching process with guest online teaching in new BA elective course “Basics of project planning and music entrepreneurship” and new MA study program Applied Research in Music done in December 2020 by Renee Jonker from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. In addition, a short fragment from the joint music performance by students and teachers from the Department of Jazz and Popular Music from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (P4) via LoLa system for distance music performance was played.
