The Project Management Board met online on 1st of June to discuss and plan the key project dissemination event (WP 7.7) entitled Music/ian is Present, to be held on 12-17 September 2022. The event will address the third project objective – promotion of more engaged and culturally responsible musicians committed to the civil society, from diverse perspectives. It will include a bootcamp for P1-P3 students with public presentations of student projects (WP 7.6) from 12-16 September, a scientific conference with roundtable presentations by invited speakers, and Public debate as a key dissemination event on 17 September.
The student bootcamp will welcome 20-25 students of new MA and modernized BA and MA study programs from the Faculty of Music University of Arts in Belgrade (P1), Academy of Arts University in Novi Sad (P2) and the Faculty of Philology and Arts University of Kragujevac (P3). They will be joined by P1-P3 teachers in the role of coaches, while the whole event will be expertly led by teachers from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague (P4). The bootcamp will rely on the experience from the first DEMUSIS project bootcamp Music – Here and Now, held last year in a hybrid format. Student projects, developed and realized within the bootcamp, will be publicly presented on the last day of the bootcamp, September 16th, while the best 3 projects will further be presented and promoted on the following day within the Public debate.
In order to enhance the scientific dissemination of project outcomes, academic researchers from the partner institutions from P1-P9 will gather on a conference on September 17th 2022 at the University of Novi Sad to share results of their research and discuss the role, position and visibility of academic musicians in society. After the conference, the proceedings will be published in journal of the highest national level, in a separate thematic section, thus reinforcing further dissemination and exploitation of the research and project results in national and international scientific community.
The issues regarding the position of musicians and their engagement in the society will be questioned and explored more fully in a in the main event of the week – the Public debate Music/ian is Present, which will be held on 17 September 2022 in Cultural station Egység in Novi Sad, in synergy with Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture 2022. In addition to the participants from all partner institutions, national and EU HMEIs and stakeholders, the list of contributors will include representatives of governmental, regional and EU institutions, as well as distinguished public figures in the sphere of music and culture.
